Our Mr. Vincent Chong and Ms. Pearl Law Serve as Lecturers at UOW College Hong Kong

At the invitation of UOW College Hong Kong, our solicitors Mr. Chong Yip Fung and Ms. Law Kit Yee have joined the teaching team for SSS3406 Law and Social Work, bringing their practical legal experience into the classroom and sharing their professional knowledge and insights with students.

Mr. Chong is responsible for delivering the main lectures for the course. Taking an interdisciplinary approach to law and social work, the course covers the Hong Kong legal system, criminal law, family law, child abuse and domestic violence, anti-discrimination and equality law, mental health legislation, as well as professional liability, negligence and accountability in social work practice. It also aims to equip students with the ability to apply legal knowledge in social work settings and to reflect on the relationship between law, professional ethics, social justice and the rights of vulnerable groups. Ms. Law is responsible for the tutorial sessions, where she uses case discussions and classroom exchanges to help students consolidate their learning and examine practical issues from both legal and social work perspectives.

With training in both law and social work, Mr. Chong is able to draw on real-life cases and frontline experience to help students understand how the law shapes the day-to-day delivery of social services and professional decision-making. Through the tutorial sessions, Ms. Law guides students in exploring the course topics in greater depth and applying legal principles to a range of practical scenarios.

Through lectures and tutorial discussions, we hope that Mr. Chong and Ms. Law will help students develop legal reasoning, strengthen their professional judgement, and deepen their understanding of social responsibility and the public interest.
