On May 17–18, solicitor Chong Yip Fung, Vincent of our firm represented the Law Society of Hong Kong at the 2025 Macau Lawyers’ Day, offering free legal consultations to the public. This meaningful participation highlighted both the professionalism of Hong Kong’s legal community and its commitment to social responsibility.

Organized annually by the Macau Lawyers Association, Macau Lawyers’ Day aims to promote the development of the legal profession and enhance public legal awareness. This year, the Law Society of Hong Kong was invited to participate. The delegation was led by Law Society President Mr. Dominic Tong Man Lung, and included solicitor Vincent Chong, Council Member and Vice-Chairman of the Greater China Legal Affairs Committee Mr. Cheng Chung Hon, as well as members Ms. Cheng Ching and Ms. Yan Ka Man.

Over the course of the two-day event, Mr. Chong and his fellow volunteer solicitors offered patient and professional legal advice at a public consultation booth set up in Macau’s iconic Senado Square. According to reports from Macau media, the public’s inquiries spanned a wide range of topics, including inheritance, family and marriage law, cross-border legal matters, property transactions, and international trade. The diversity of questions reflects a genuine and growing need among citizens of both Hong Kong and Macau for cross-jurisdictional legal support.

In an interview, Mr. Dominic Tong expressed his optimism at seeing legal professionals from Hong Kong, Macau, and mainland China take this opportunity to deepen their understanding of each other’s legal systems and work collectively to enhance the quality of legal services for the public. He also noted that this marked the Law Society of Hong Kong’s first official invitation to offer free legal consultations in Macau, and the enthusiastic response from the public affirmed the importance of addressing cross-border legal issues.

The Law Society of Hong Kong extended its heartfelt thanks to the three volunteer lawyers—including our own Mr. Chong—for their selfless contributions, as well as to the Macau Lawyers Association for its warm invitation. The Society looks forward to continued collaboration with the Macau legal community to promote the advancement of the legal profession in both regions.

We at the firm are immensely proud of Mr. Chong’s active involvement in voluntary legal services and his dedication to using his expertise to benefit the wider community. His efforts not only reflect his personal passion for justice but also embody the professional integrity and social responsibility our firm has always upheld. We will continue to encourage and support our legal professionals in taking part in meaningful community services and contributing to the development of the rule of law in society.
