Mr. Chong Yip Fung Appointed as Guest Lecturer at Hong Kong Baptist University: Bridging Law and Social Work

Law and Society

Mr. Vincent Chong has been invited to serve as a guest lecturer in the Department of Social Work at the Hong Kong Baptist University, teaching the course Law and Society. This essential course is tailored for social work students, aiming to deepen their understanding of how the law shapes society and equip them with practical legal knowledge for professional practice. The course is comprehensive and practical, covering the philosophical foundation, structure, and operation of Hong Kong's legal system, along with various laws closely related to social work, such as the Marriage Ordinance, the Domestic and Cohabitation Relationships Violence Ordinance, and the Protection of Children and Juveniles Ordinance. A court visit is also included in the curriculum to provide students with a first-hand experience of Hong Kong's legal system in action.

During the lectures, Mr. Chong not only elucidates complex legal theories but also shares invaluable insights from his professional practice, helping students understand the delicate balance between law and ethics and how to apply this knowledge in real-world social work scenarios. For instance, the course explores topics such as safeguarding the rights of families and children, handling cases of domestic violence and child protection, and promoting anti-discrimination and equal opportunities within the legal framework.

Mr. Chong’s role as a guest lecturer highlights his dual expertise in law and education and underscores our firm’s commitment to advancing legal education. We firmly believe that through collaboration with academia, we can help future social workers develop the professional legal acumen needed to support vulnerable populations and promote social justice.

We look forward to continuing our efforts to nurture exceptional talents in law and social work and to contributing to society with our professional legal services.
